It's been a long year. A hard year of strained travel and harrowing adversity.
At times it seemed unlikely that we'd ever make it. But now, at long last, we plant our banner and still the wheel, as we prepare to start our future settlement, here, at the farthest edge of the known Frontier.
Only the Navigator's Winds know what dangers and challenges to expect, for none of our kin have ever come this far before. We are the first.

This, finally, is our opportunity to create for ourselves a new beginning, a new world, a new home.

The First New Day begins...
ITZAM'S WHEEL
Itzam's Wheel is an experimental map-game project I created and started around the week of New Year, 2024.

The base idea was to create and simulate the growth of a settlement, and to manage the people within that settlement, as they faced various challenges like wild animals, resource shortages, housing needs, natural and unatural disasters, hostile factions, and so forth. I wanted to tell a story of these people's struggles, as they learned to create a new home for themselves in a distant, unknown land.
The idea further was that each day I would have a set amount of actions I could perform like building structures or gathering resources, and on the next day I would resolve various mechanics and rules created for the game, and randomize events and outcomes based on different systems I designed. This I did mostly manually, and it was a hell of a lot of work, for sure.
Daily updates were posted on Twitter, and weekly updates were posted on Artstation.

The project lasted for 1 month and I learned a lot in that time. I hope to return to the project one day, as I think it was a lot of fun seeing my settlement grow from a few tents to walled-in houses, and there are still a lot of stories I hope to tell through this project too.
